We are looking for a concept artist that will work with concepting and visualizing ideas for a game, such as environments, mobs and more. You will also be collaborating with the game team to make sure that the concepts in the game fits within the brand. 

Start: Within 1 month

Length: 18 months

Location: Sweden

 

Responsibilities 

  • Uphold high standards in delivering concept art for many purposes – environments, architecture, prop design, characters to mention a few 

  • Collaborate efficiently within the game teams in order to visualize and expand the ideas via concept art – using for example sketches, paint overs, polished paintings and model sheets 

  • Work under the leadership of Art Directors and collaborate with them and the teams to help build a cohesive artistic vision for the game. Take an active part in ideation processes. 

  • Working in several teams (sometimes in parallel) you will take an active part in planning, pipeline development, prioritizing tasks and estimating time for your deliverables. 

  • Showcase and communicate your processes, progression, results and insights to the teams 

  • Document your work and contribute to style guides 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Tangible experience (such as shipped titles and personal body of work) related to the role 

  • A good understanding of game design, storytelling and animation and an ability to incorporate it in your concept art 

  • Good understanding of art principles - composition, perspective, form, color theory, lighting, texturing and design 

  • Good understanding of stylization for pixel art and ability to adapt to the Minecraft style 

  • Experience using Photoshop and 3D software 

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in written form in English 

  • Good time management and efficiency 

  • Experience working effectively with game development partner teams (including but not limited to gameplay design, art, audio, production, UI, QA, localization, and external partners) 

  • Passion for creating concept art for video games 

  • Experience working through full game development cycles
